Recognition of Current Competency (RCC)

For The National Certificates in Glazing and Glass Processing

The requirements are that the candidate is over the age of 25, and has been working in the industry for at least seven years, and is currently working as a glazier or glass processor.

The procedure for gaining RCC is as follows

The candidate should provide :
~ References from past employers and/or the present employer attesting the candidate's work skills, and
~ Evidence of work completed, i.e. photographs, letters from clients, employers, etc.

The assessor shall:
Evaluate the evidence and references provided by the candidate, and interview the candidate about his or her work history and glazing or glass processing skills.
Depending on the outcome of the interview, the candidate may be required to
~ give an oral description of the processes undertaken to produce the work provided in the evidence, or
~ sit a theory test, or
~ sit a practical test

When the assessor is satisfied that the candidate has the skills expected of a craftsperson in the relevant glass discipline:

The Joinery Industry Training Organisation will notify the New Zealand Qualifications Authority that the candidate has met the requirements of the relevant National Certificate in Glazing.

The candidate will be able to uplift the relevant Certificate.
